The content focuses on 2D works (canvas, paper, wood panels, etc.). It is designed for anyone with a background in art who wishes to explore new approaches to their practice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Level: This course is for beginner and intermediate levels<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Dates and hours: Saturday October 31st, November 7th and 14th, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>and Saturday November 21st and 28th, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (30 min for lunch time, bring your own lunch)<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>The course will be offered in French, but the instructor is bilingual.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Cost for members: $130 (for non-members $145)<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Session structure:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 3 sessions of 3 hours covering theory and technique demonstrations, followed by guided and\/or independent practice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 Two 6-hour sessions of guided practice on a personal project<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Course 1 will develop the following notions: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Material, Composition, Pattern balance, Texture.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Course 2 will develop the following notions: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Colour, Colour Balance (60%, 30%, 10%), Choice of colours, Contrast,<\/span><b>, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mouvement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Course 3 will develop the following notions:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Symbolism, Choosing a subject.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Courses 4 and 5 you will work on a piece of art which incorporates the notions you have learned in the past 3 sessions.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>List of required material:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Acrylic paint from Golden or Liquitex brands (two brands that offer the highest pigmentation. These three colours offer an interesting and contrasted palette and reduce the number of paints required<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pyrrole Red<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Blue Ultramarine<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hansa Yellow Opaque\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cheap Black and White acrylic paint<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Retarder<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Medium Mixmedia drawing pad<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Small-medium canvas (canvas or wood)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">+\/- 5 small canvases of 5 inches by 5 inches (or wood plate of the same size)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Box of Cheap Crayola pencils<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brushes:\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Big flat brush (\u00be inch or 1 inch),\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Small thin brush (look, if possible, for the longest hair brush)\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Medum size round or flat brush<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Water Container (for ex. yogurt container)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roll of paper napkins<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pencil sharpener<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lead pencil<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eraser<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mat Medium if you work on wood<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>The instructor:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Thomas D\u2019Aoust (Toda) is a graphist, illustrator and a passionate artist. Holding a college diploma in graphic design, he brings nearly 20 years of experience to his work. He has participated in over fifteen exhibitions and competitions.
