Selection of an artwork to be used to promote the exhibition at Espace Pierre Debain in the summer of 2027.
Theme
Located in the heart of Aylmer’s historic district, the Centre culturel du Vieux-Aylmer is marking a remarkable milestone this year – 175 years in service of the community.
Over the decades, the center has successfully reinvented itself while preserving its architectural character. This heritage building, a testament to the region’s evolution since the mid-19th century, remains an essential cultural gathering place for the residents of Gatineau and the Outaouais region.
It is within this historic building that the Espace Pierre-Debain is located—an exhibition space dedicated to the visual arts.
In this anniversary year, Arts visuels de Gatineau – an organization dedicated to promoting and showcasing the visual arts – plans to present an exhibition there that echoes the spirit of this historic monument.
The event will invite visitors to explore the dialogue between built heritage and contemporary artistic expression, highlighting the cultural vitality that still animates these walls, which are over a century old.
Call for Artists
Arts visuels de Gatineau invites its members to submit a work that will serve as the promotional image for the group exhibition at Espace Pierre Debain in August and September 2027, at the Centre culturel du Vieux-Aylmer, 120 Principale Street, Gatineau.
Submission Guidelines
Submit a painting or sculpture recent, original, and unique no later than Monday, September 7, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
Your submission must include:
- a photo of the work (at least 3 megabytes)
- your name
- the title of the work
- the medium
- the dimensions (h x w)
- the year of creation
- a short text (100 words max.) describing the work as it relates to the theme.
General Terms and Conditions for the Exhibition at Espace Pierre Debain, 2027
- Only members in good standing of Arts visuels de Gatineau may submit a work. To become a member visit: https://artsvisuelsgatineau.com/en/devenir-membre/
- Members may submit only one 2D or 3D work (3D works will be photographed for use in printed materials).
- The submitted artwork must be original (no reproductions or copies) and recent (within the last 2 years).
- submitted work must reflect the required theme " The Memory of the Walls ».
- The artist whose work is selected will transfer the rights to the artwork to the City of Gatineau for limited use and duration.
- To submit a work, participants must pay the non-refundable registration fee ($5).
- The jury’s selection is final and non-negotiable.
