Description
Description: This 5-week course is for people who have little to no experience painting with acrylics and who want to master the basic principles.
Week 1. Organizing and preparing your canvas / exploring color mixing
Week 2. Starting a color chart / exploring complementary colors
Week 3. Using shades to create volume / "Still Life" project
Week 4. Applying the basic rules of composition / "Landscape" project
Week 5. Creating shadows and highlights / completing the 2 projects
Materials list::
Tubes of acrylic paints: Golden (59 ml) or Liquitex Heavy Body (59 ml)
or Pébéo Studio High Viscosity (100 ml)
- 1 titanium white
- 1 ultramarine blue (or French ultramarine)
- 1 medium cadmium red
- 1 light cadmium yellow or primary yellow
3 brushes
1 synthetic flat brush: #6 (e.g., Zen brush by Royal & Langnickel)
2 synthetic filbert brushes: #6 and #10 (suggestion: Zen brushes)
1 small bottle of retarder (Golden) or Demco)
1 medium-sized metal spatula
1 disposable palette knife
5 canvases:7x5 inches
1 bottle of white gesso (Demco or Liquitex)
1 large container (like a yogurt container) for water
1 roll of paper towels or some old rags
1 spray bottle
Pencil and small notebook if you want to take notes
Level: This course is for beginners.
Location: Chalet Jean-Chénier, 515 Jean-Chénier Street (Aylmer sector)
Dates: Tuesdays from October 29th to November 26th
Hours: 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.
The course will be offered in French, but the instructor is bilingual., mais l’instructeur est bilingue

Regarding the instructor: René-Lyne Charlebois possède une maîtrise en arts (Université Laval). 15 ans comme enseignante d’art plastique au secondaire, 5 ans comme professeur de cours privé en peinture à l’huile, artiste peintre à temps plein depuis plus de 10 ans.
