Description

When reading and writing are no longer enough, colors come to life and life takes shape…From the drawing board to the easel, Denise Guillemette is a passionate painter. Generous use of color, a stripped-down yet eloquent composition, and a formal language refined to perfection, without ever succumbing to mere prettiness. Both expressionist and formalist, her approach draws directly from the emotional core of her vision. A recipient of several awards and active in Quebec and Ontario, her works can be found throughout the region, across the rest of Canada, and even internationally. Her paintings have been exhibited at the Ottawa Art Gallery as well as at other galleries in Ontario and Quebec. She will speak with us about her artistic journey, the various techniques she uses, and her involvement in regional art communities.

About the Presenter: Denise is a contemporary painter whose impressionist style, infused with whimsy, brings animals, nature, and tender moments to life. Drawing on her childhood memories of the family farm and the vibrancy of the natural world, she creates works bathed in light, atmosphere, and expressive colors. With a bachelor’s degree in visual arts from Laval University in Quebec City, which she earned after studying architecture, she has pursued a career in architectural and graphic design. She taught painting for several years at AVG. In the past, she served on the Board of Directors as workshop coordinator and president. Today, she offers specialized workshops, exhibits at various cultural events in Quebec and Ontario, and is an associate member of the Old Chelsea Gallery in Chelsea, Quebec.
