Description

The Objective eis allowing the participants a chance to explore the art of animal drawing and painting. They will be given theory and demonstrations of different techniques and will get to practice either on their own or while being guided by the instructor. 

Session structure: 3 hours of theory and technique demonstrations, followed by guided and/or individual practice. 

Week 1 – Presentations, Observation and References: presentations of the participants and review of the plan, and theory on reference images.

Week 2 – Proportions, Sketches and Colour Testing: theory and demonstrations on how to get the right proportions, sketching and explorations of the colours. 

Week 3 - Steps, Things to Consider and Creation: Review of the steps of the creation process, of the important aspects to consider during the creation, and beginning of the creation itself - fur.

Week 4 – Drawing and Practice : Tips on how to draw realistic fur, and start of the final drawing. 

Week 5 – Drawing: Continuing the final drawing. 

Week 6 – Perfecting the Drawing: Continuing the drawing and adding the final details.

 Week 7 – From Drawing to Painting: Theory on the differences between drawing and painting animals, new colour testing with the paint and transfer of the sketch onto the canvas.

Week 8 - Painting: Application des techniques de fourrure avec la peinture, peinture finale.

Week 9 – Painting: Continuing to work on the final painting.

Week 10 – Extra Tips: Adding the finishing touch, if need be, and information about products and mediums to help with bigger projects, to bring the creation to the next level.

Weeks 7 to 10

Acrylic Paint 

Paintbrushes 

Apron, smock or old clothes 

Small container for water 

2 Thin 9x12 inches canvas for tests (1,25$ each at Dollarama)

1 11x14 inches Canvas for the artwork (from 9,99$ at DeSerres 

The instructor will lend to those who do not have them:  

Some paint and paintbrushes 

We will determine what paint need to be bought during class.

 

Level: This workshop is for beginner, intermediate, and slightly advanced participants. 

Location: Chalet Jean-Chénier, 515 Jean-Chénier Street (Aylmer Sector) 

Dates: Every Friday from September 25th to November 27th 

Hours: 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 

The workshop will be offered in French, but the instructor is bilingual.

Cost for members: 185$ (cost for non-members: 200$)

 

Regarding the instructor : Audrey Grenier is a multidisciplinary artist from l’Ange-Gardien. She specialises in animal drawing and painting, but she also works with photography and sculpture/carving. She just finished her Baccalaureate in Visual Arts. She is also recipient of an award from AVG and one for Public’s Favorite artwork with FemmExpo 2024.
